Thank you @BCITnews for shedding light on the challenges BC patients face in cancer testing and diagnostics, and the hope that PET/CT Scans can offer. 🙏🏥
The CEO of Initio explained that the cost of isotope takes the majority of the scan's cost. Radioactivity decays over time. Every hour the activity becomes 50 per cent or less from what it was at the start.
The PET scanner at Initio needs 25 minutes to do a full body scan, with a daily capacity of 25 people.
"So the faster you can get the patients through the more patients you could serve by increasing accessibility, reducing cost, and in doing so you create sustainability.” - Mina Bechai, founder, and CEO of Initio
